1903-12-14 (112lbs) Digger Stanley w pts 15 Jack Walker, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: Tom Scott. Billed for the English 112lbs title, Stanley (110) immediately settled down with the left jab paving the way for solid rights over the top. Unfortunately, the contest soon turned into one of too much holding as both men looked to nullify each other’s work, and the referee was forced to issue several cautions in that respect. Down in the sixth, Walker (112) was soon back on his feet and although the next half dozen rounds were messy, the last three sessions were give and take, with the latter staying on well and showing a good deal of power. However, the verdict went to Stanley, whose boxing skills were deemed by the judges to have overcome Walker’s aggression.

Walker continued to claim the championship despite his defeat, but was virtually at the end of his career.
