19 December (108lbs) Charlie Exall w co 5 (15) Ernie Godwin, Ginnett’s Circus, Newcastle, England. Referee: Billy Bell. Billed for the English 108lbs title, plus or minus two pounds, while Exall (107) started without his usual dash Godwin (110) got away well before being out-thought and outpunched in the clinches. In the fifth, Godwin was getting by far the worst of it and after dropping down at Exall’s feet he was counted out with 45 seconds of the session remaining.
