1904-01-18 (122lbs) Wally Morgan w pts 20 Charlie Lampey, International AC, Marylebone, London, England. Referee: Joe Steers. Billed for the English 122lbs title, it was evenly contested with no knockdowns and both boys taking it in turn to score. Lampey was the harder puncher of the pair and made the mistake of looking too hard for a winning punch while Morgan’s left jab picked up the points, especially in the last five sessions when his opponent was rapidly tiring. Despite the result, that was about it at 122lbs as far as Morgan was concerned and he quickly moved on. On 8 February, in the Sporting Life, Pedlar Palmer was claiming that he should still be recognised as the English and world 122lbs champion
