1904-01-23 (140lbs) Jack Nelson w co 6 (20) Jim Hook, Ginnett’s Circus, Newcastle, England. Referee: Billy Bell. With both men inside 140lbs and Nelson looking to regain his title claim, Hook made the better start when scoring well but before too long the Newcastle man was doing good work at close quarters. By the third round, despite doing well with the left jab, the taller Hook was being hurt downstairs and in the fifth he was really up against it as Nelson also began to target the head. It was all over in the sixth after Hook dropped to the floor to be counted out, having taken a barrage of blows to head and body and a final shattering left hook to the jaw.
