1904-02-29 (130lbs) Young Corbett w rsc 11 (20) Dave Sullivan, Mechanics’ Pavilion, San Francisco, California, USA. Referee: Ed Graney. Billed for the 130lbs world featherweight title, Sullivan proved extremely game and did everything his power to bring Corbett to his knees, but it proved imposible. Dropped for ‘seven’ in the second round after taking a right to the jaw, Sullivan was then forced to endure a painful beating in the fourth in which he was put down twice more. With Corbett in full flow Sullivan somehow made it to the tenth before being put down by a punch that appeared low. Then, in the 11th he was again smashed to the floor and on getting up was finally rescued by the referee after he had received a further battering.
