1904-02-29 (130lbs) Young Corbett w rsc 11 (20) Dave Sullivan, Mechanics’ Pavilion, San Francisco, California, USA. Referee: Ed Graney. Billed for the 130lbs world featherweight title, Sullivan proved extremely game while doing everything in his power to bring Corbett to his knees. Dropped for ‘seven’ in the second round after taking a right to the jaw, Sullivan was then forced to endure a painful beating in the fourth in which he was put down twice more. With Corbett in full flow, Sullivan somehow made it to the tenth before being floored by a punch that appeared low. Then, in the 11th, after Sullivan was again smashed to the floor, on getting up he was finally rescued by the referee following a further battering.
