1904-03-09 (122lbs) [[Abe Attell]] w co 5 (20) [[Patsy Haley]], Whittington Park, Hot Springs, Arkansas, USA. Made at 122lbs, Attell (121) was far too good for Haley (122), who was outboxed and generally outclassed right from the opening bell. Unable to get copies of the local papers I cannot describe the finishing punch, but it was commented upon afterwards that Attell could punch effectively if required.

On 23 March at the same arena, Attell knocked out [[Maurice Rauch]] inside six rounds of a contest scheduled for ten. Yet again I was unable to find a comprehensive report of the fight, but as Rauch could make 122lbs with ease at the time there is every chance that this one also involved Attell’s title claim at the weight.

1904-03-09 (122lbs) Abe Attell w co 5 (20) Patsy Haley, Whittington Park, Hot Springs, Arkansas, USA. Made at 122lbs, Attell (121) was far too good for Haley (122), who was outboxed and generally outclassed right from the opening bell. With only the Arkansas Gazette available (the Hot Springs papers of the day seemingly destroyed) I cannot describe the finishing punch.

On 23 March, at the same arena, Attell knocked out Maurice Rauch inside six rounds of a contest scheduled for ten. Yet again I was unable to find a comprehensive report of the fight, but as Rauch could make 122lbs with ease at the time there is every chance that this one also involved Attell’s title claim at the weight.
