1904-03-25 (130lbs) Jimmy Britt w pts 20 Young Corbett, Woodward’s Pavilion, San Francisco, California, USA. Referee: Ed Graney. Billed for the world 130lbs title, Britt proved to be Corbett’s master and however hard the champion tried he could not make a dent in his challenger. It was Britt’s left hand that was the difference between them, and although there were no knockdowns Corbett was almost out on at least three occasions. Reported to be one of the fiercest fights seen for many a day, with both men bleeding badly, Britt stood up to Corbett and in the last four rounds he made sure that the verdict would be his when he completely outscored and outpunched the latter.

Britt, who was also the claimant of the ‘white’ 133lbs championship, was not interested in the 130lbs title and moved on immediately, while Corbett was never a major force again.
