1904-04-14 (158lbs) Jack O’Brien w co 3 (15) Jack Twin Sullivan, West End Club, St Louis, Missouri, USA. With O’Brien’s 158lbs title claim on the line in this one, for two rounds Sullivan successfully blocked the punches coming his way, but in the third round after similar blows got through his defences and landed on his jaw he went down to be counted out. Immediately prior to the contest, the St Louis Post-Dispatch stated that the winner should meet Tommy Ryan in an effort to sort out the championship as far as America was concerned.
