30 May (108lbs) Jim Kenrick w rsc 12 (15) Dave Job, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Despite the fact that there was no championship billing attached, in later years Kenrick claimed that it was a defence of his English 108lbs title with both men inside the weight. At times Job looked like being overwhelmed early on but he stayed with Kenrick until the two-thirds marker when the latter began to make his pressure pay. One can only assume that by the 12th round Job was getting the worst of it following much in-fighting, as the Sporting Life reported that the contest was stopped in that session, the decision being awarded to Kenrick.
