1904-07-23 (144lbs) Bobby Dobbs w co 2 (15) Bill Chester, Ginnett’s Circus, Newcastle, England. Originally billed for the world 140lbs title, unfortunately Dobbs (144) failed to make the weight and the fight went ahead at 144lbs, with Chester (139) taking on a man already claiming the title at that poundage. Chester stormed out of his corner in the opening session and so intense was his attack that Dobbs, who had already been decked, sought the canvas on his own account. However, in the second round Dobbs was planning his next move and when the onrushing Chester left his guard down he was countered heavily by a left-right, nicknamed ‘Bobby Dazzler’, and was counted out on the 1.20 mark.
