1904-10-24 (142lbs) Honey Mellody w pts 10 Jack O’Keefe, Blue Island AC, Chicago, Illinois, USA. With both men inside 142lbs, the Chicago Tribune reported it as being for the title after assuming Joe Walcott had retired. Mellody led from start to finish, having the better of every round, and punished O’Keefe severely. Down for ‘nine’ in the fourth, on several occasions it was only the bell that saved O’Keefe from being knocked out.
