1904-10-27 (106lbs) Frank Morcombe drew 15 Albert Cocksedge, Cosmopolitan Club, Marylebone, London, England. Referee: Bert Dorman. Although stated to have been at catchweights and despite the Sporting Life reporting that the fighters looked to weigh in the region of 112lbs, with Cocksedge claiming to be inside 106lbs Morcombe’s English title claim at the weight would have been at stake. There was no doubting that Cocksedge wanted the win badly and he made much of the early running, throwing solid rights and lefts to the head as Morcombe replied with neat jabs. Unable to put his man down, in the middle rounds Cocksedge took a breather and paid for it as Morcombe closed the gap. Coming again in the ninth Cocksedge landed well to the body with both hands, but by the 11th Morcombe was back in his stride with the jab and took most of the remaining sessions to earn a draw.

Shortly afterwards, Young Bill Smith claimed the 106lbs title.
