1904-10-29 (116lbs) Owen Moran w disq 3 (20) Harry Ware, Ginnett’s Circus, Newcastle, England. Referee: Billy Bell. Billed for the English 116lbs title with Ware advertised as the holder, it turned into a disappointing affair as the latter looked to hold at every opportunity. In the second round Ware (116½) received several cautions for hitting and holding and in the third he continued in the same manner, often charging into Moran (115½) with his head low before slipping down to take several counts. Although Moran continued to work the head and body it was clear that Ware had no intention of making a fight of it and after receiving countless warnings the referee disqualified him with about 30 seconds of the session remaining.
