1904-11-21 (146lbs) Bobby Dobbs w rsc 8 (20) Pat Daly, Ginnett’s Circus, Newcastle, England. Billed for the world 146lbs championship, Dobbs (142½) and Daly (145), using an accurate left jab, made a fast start with both men letting their punches go and both having fair success. Although the contest degenerated somewhat, eventually Dobbs began to get on top and in the eighth round after he had smashed in a heavy right hand to Daly’s jaw and the latter was hanging on the ropes in a bemused state the referee stopped the contest.

Further to a catchweight bout against Charlie Knock at the Christian Street Gymnastic Club, Liverpool on 27 September 1906, Dobbs, despite winning on a ninth-round disqualification in a fight where it was thought both men were inside 146lbs, did not figure from there on even though he boxed on until September 1907 when failing eyesight forced him to retire.
