1904-11-26 (112lbs) Harry McDermott w rtd 2 (20) Jack Christian, Ginnett’s Circus, Newcastle, England. Referee: Billy Bell. Billed for the English 112lbs title, McDermott (109) was almost immediately on the attack, scoring rapidly with telling lefts and rights to head and body to catch Christian (111) cold. Towards the end of the opening session a terrific left-hand blow to the jaw sent Christian crashing, and it was only the bell that saved him from being counted out. Regardless of that, with Christian’s corner unable to revive him during the interval he was retired when the bell rang for the start of the second round.
