1905-03-20 (140lbs) Harry Greenfield w rtd 7 (15) Morty Murphy, North London Baths, Islington, London, England. Referee: J. T. Hulls. Contested at 140lbs, Greenfield (139), who promoted the fight, was always going too well for Murphy (139) and was soon at work with left jabs paving the way for body shots. In the second round the crouching Murphy was cut over the right eye and from then on through the seventh he was so badly punished that his corner retired him. Following this, Greenfield claimed the English 140lbs title and was immediately challenged by Pat Daly. On 6 May, this offer was repeated to Greenfield, who merely ignored it and remained inactive.
