29 March (116lbs) Jimmy Walsh nd-w rsc 6 (6) Monte Attell, National AC, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Despite it being a mere no-decision six rounder, Walsh, who had the better of it, laid claim to the American 116lbs title after Attell was unable to continue following a dubious body blow in a contest at the weight. As Attell was slumping to the ground after two minutes of the sixth he was finished off by a right-left to the jaw and had to be carried to the dressing room in much pain.
