1905-03-29 (116lbs) Jimmy Walsh nd-w rsc 6 (6) Monte Attell, National AC, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Despite it being a mere no-decision six rounder, Walsh, who had the better of it, laid claim to the American 116lbs title after Attell was unable to continue following a dubious body blow in a contest at the weight. As Attell was slumping to the ground after two minutes of the sixth he was finished off by a right-left to the jaw, being carried to the dressing room in much pain.

Although it was reported in the Daily Kennebec Journal that Walsh had been disqualified there was no mention of that elsewhere, and in his next contest, against Danny Dougherty (nd-w pts 6 at the Knickerbocker AC, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 31 March), he was announced as being the 116lbs champion.
