1905-04-07 (158lbs) Jack O’Brien w pts 10 Young Peter Jackson, 4th Regiment Armory, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Referee: Charlie White. The Baltimore Sun reported that with both men inside 158lbs, O’Brien’s American title claim at the weight was automatically at stake. The fight started slowly, but after the opening round it warmed up with nearly every session going in O’Brien’s favour. The nearest thing to a knockout came in the ninth when Jackson was extremely groggy, but O’Brien was unable to find a finishing punch. Jackson generally had the better of things at close quarter, but was outboxed and outmanoeuvred, at times being bewildered by O’Brien’s movement and evasive tactics.
