1905-05-18 (102lbs) Frank Morcombe drew 15 Ernie Godwin, Christian Street Gymnastic Club, Liverpool, England
18 May (102lbs) Frank Morcombe drew 15 Ernie Godwin, Christian Street Gymnastic Club, Liverpool, England. Although there was no title billing for this one, it was later reported to have been for the English 102lbs championship. After a rather disappointing start the contest improved considerably and at one point Godwin had a fair lead before Morcombe came back strongly to earn a share of the points. Fought at speed there were no knockdowns.
Eventually, with Morcombe dropping down in weight, Jack Morris (December), Jim Exall (February 1906) and Frank Exall (February 1909) all claimed the English title at the weight before Jimmy Wilde ultimately put his stamp on it.
