Billed for the 145lbs title, Herbert (143½) had the better of it up until the eighth despite being dropped twice in the opening round. Having come back to hurt Ryan (142) badly on several occasions, Herbert finally lost all interest in the contest when a terrific right to the jaw dropped him for the full count in the 11th.
