1905-09-09 (133lbs) Battling Nelson w co 18 (45) Jimmy Britt, Mission Street Arena, Colma, San Francisco, California, USA. Referee: Ed Graney. Although billed for the 133lbs championship, with both men inside, George Siler, writing in the Chicago Tribune prior to the contest, was not slow to extol the virtues of Joe Gans as the real champion. This was the second meeting between the pair, Nelson ultimately proving too strong for Britt despite being dropped twice in the opening rounds. From the eighth onwards one could sense that Britt was already weakening following a hectic fifth session. The 14th was sensational as both men gave it everything, but after that it looked as though Britt might be back, his jab keeping Nelson at bay for the next three rounds. However, instead of going up a gear the 18th proved to be the end for Britt when he was dropped heavily from punches to head and body and counted out.
On 14 March 1906, at the National AC, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with both men inside 133lbs, Nelson outscored Terry McGovern over six rounds according to the ringside pressmen.
