1905-11-13 (124lbs) Cockney Cohen w co 6 (20) Pedlar Palmer, Wonderland, Mile End, London, England. Referee: Edward Humphreys. Contested over two-minute rounds at 124lbs, as one might have expected the men were travelling fast right from the opening bell. At the end of the fourth they were both groggy from their exertions, so frenetic had the pace been, with Cohen concentrating more on the body while Palmer’s speed saw him visiting both head and body before moving out of range. After the pace slowed dramatically in the fifth the sixth saw Cohen rejuvenated and following a clinch, in which Palmer left himself unprotected, the Canning Town man was sent down to be counted out, having been tagged by a solid right to the jaw.
With some reports showing the fight to have been staged over three-minute rounds, regardless of whether it was or was not Cohen immediately claimed the English title at the weight.
