1905-11-23 (132lbs) Joe Fletcher nc 6 (15) Tom Hall, High Street Lecture Hall, Deptford, London, England. Referee: G. H. Holloway. Billed for the English 132lbs title, it was declared a no-contest after the referee decided that there was very little chance of it being a fair fight. It had started well with Fletcher, fighting out of a crouch and showing a sound defence, finding Hall’s face with solid lefts before sending him to the boards in the second round. The remainder of the contest was spoiled by constant clinching and refusing to break clean. It was clear that the referee was fast losing his patience, and after Fletcher, who had dropped Hall to his knees in the sixth, was standing over his rival he called it off.
Three days later Fletcher again challenged all England, up to £200-a-side, through the medium of the Sporting Life, but soon moved up a weight class.
