1905-12-11 (158lbs) Hugo Kelly drew 10 Young Mahoney, Tomlinson Hall, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. Referee: Jack Ryan. Kelly’s 158lbs title claim was at stake in this one, with both men inside the weight, and the referee gave a draw after deciding that Mahoney had made up any lost ground when rallying strongly in the last two sessions. Mahoney was always willing to take a punch to land one of his own and even when rocked he came back strongly to bother Kelly, who had gone to the front early on with his better boxing.
