1906-01-29 (126lbs) Johnny Summers w pts 20 Spike Robson, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Billed for the English 126lbs title, Summers (125) quickly got down to work, both hands pumping away at Robson (125) who assumed a crouching position before charging in head down. In the third round Robson was sent to the floor from a solid right, but he was soon back on his feet and taking the fight to Summers before being staggered just on the bell. Thereafter, Robson fought a more canny campaign in trying to bring Summers on to him, but the Londoner would not be fooled, only tagging his man when it suited him while doing good work at distance. Although the money was on Summers the tough northerner remained dangerous right to the final bell, often banging in punches to head and body when openings presented themselves, and making his rival fight every inch of the way.
