1906-02-19 (145lbs) Honey Mellody w co 12 (15) Terry Martin, Lincoln AC, Chelsea, Massachusetts, USA. Involving Mellody’s ‘white’ title claim at 145lbs, Martin fought on gamely to the tenth before being dropped in that round and then knocked out in the 12th by a chance blow to the jaw. After tumbling down several times with Mellody, who was the aggressor throughout, Martin had taken so much punishment to the body that he was exhausted and his exit in the 12th was hardly surprising. However, Martin had put up such a good showing that he and Mellody were rematched a week or so later after the latter’s fight against Mike Twin Sullivan, scheduled for 10 March, was called off.
