1906-03-05 (145lbs) Honey Mellody w co 11 (15) Terry Martin, Lincoln AC, Chelsea, Massachusetts, USA. Mellody’s 145lbs ‘white’ title claim was again at stake against Martin and the latter surprised many when taking the first six rounds. Not only that, but he almost had Mellody out on three occasions. It was contested at a whirlwind pace and once Mellody got to grips with Martin the latter gradually weakened before being knocked out in the 11th following a vicious right to the jaw that had sent him crashing. Both men took tremendous punishment prior to the finish. Following two catchweight affairs against Charlie McKeever, Mellody next took on Jack Dougherty at the Panorama Building in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 20 April, drawing over eight rounds.
