2 April (108lbs) Mark Verrall w disq 3 (15) Jim Kenrick, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: J. H. Douglas. Billed for the English 108lbs title with Kenrick called the champion, following a fairly innocuous opening couple of rounds the latter made all the running in the third before Verrall dropped to the floor claiming a low blow. With Verrall down and unable to continue the referee had no option but to disqualify Kenrick, and what on paper had looked to be a good contest came to an abrupt end.
