1906-07-23 (135lbs) Joe Gans w pts 20 Dave Holly, Pleasure Beach Arena, Seattle, Washington, USA. Billed for the 135lbs world title, with Holly safely inside the limit, although the latter’s natural strength allowed him to fight his own fight Gans (133½) would not be denied. The last three rounds were the hardest fought, and despite Gans having Holly in dire trouble in the 20th the latter managed to hold on to hear the bell.
