1906-07-23 (135lbs) Joe Gans w pts 20 Dave Holly, Pleasure Beach Arena, Seattle, Washington, USA. Billed for the 135lbs world title, with Holly safely inside the limit, although the latter’s natural strength allowed him to fight his own fight Gans (133½) would not be denied. The last three rounds were the hardest fought, but still Holly hung in and despite Gans having him in dire trouble in the 20th he managed to hold on to hear the bell.
