1906-08-24 (158lbs) Hugo Kelly w co 6 (20) Tony Caponi, Crawford’s Opera House, Leavenworth, Kansas, USA. The Leavenworth Times reported both men to be inside the required 158lbs, thus putting Kelly’s claim at the weight up for grabs. While Caponi showed himself to be an aggressive fighter, newspaper reports stated that the result was never in doubt after Kelly showed great ability to make his man miss on countless occasions in the early rounds. In the sixth, however, Kelly decided it was time to pick up on his aggressive side and he dropped Caponi three times in quick succession, the last time being for the full count.
