1906-10-22 (104lbs) Albert Cocksedge w pts 10 Charlie Dew, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: J. H. Douglas. From the beginning it could be seen that the stronger Cocksedge (103) was intent on getting Dew (102½) to close quarters where he could work up and down, while the latter tried to keep his distance with the use of a smart left and clever footwork. By the seventh Cocksedge had battled his way to the front despite Dew’s left jab continuing to pick him out, and with the Londoner tiring he held on to win a thoroughly entertaining fight on points.

Although there was no title billing attached, Cocksedge laid claim to the English 104lbs championship.
