1906-10-29 Gunner Moir w disq 9 (20) Jack Palmer, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. The way Moir started when working the body looked like giving him an early win, but after Palmer got through the opening session, despite being extremely groggy at times, by the third he was making it interesting. Having gone well in the fourth Palmer was badly shaken up by head shots, and although he got through the round he never posed a threat thereafter. On being brought to his knees by a smashing right to the jaw in the ninth Palmer got up and charged into Moir, both holding and punching, before going low and suffering an immediate disqualification.

Looking to build on his victory, Moir challenged America’s Philadelphia Jack O'Brien to decide the world title.
