1906-10-30 (122lbs) Abe Attell w pts 20 Harry Baker, Naud Junction Pavilion, Los Angeles, California, USA. Referee: Eddie Robinson. Billed for the American (world) 122lbs title, the majority of reports stated that Attell was lucky to retain his title as Baker’s lightning lefts reached the target incessantly in at least 15 of the 20 rounds contested. A couple of reports claimed that Baker made 122½lbs on weighing in and that Attell’s experience won him the day. What is not beyond dispute was the fact that Baker threw himself on the floor in rage at the decision, and the crowd hissing and booing for at least 20 minutes, a quick return match was signed up.
