1906-12-07 (122lbs) Abe Attell w co 8 (20) Jimmy Walsh, Naud Junction Pavilion, Los Angeles, California, USA. Referee: Tommy Burns. Billed for the American (world) 122lbs title, Attell started strongly, having Walsh all but out before the bell rang to end the first round. After taking all manner of blows to the head, although Walsh, bleeding freely, kept going without success it was not for the want of trying. Landing heavily in the eighth, when Attell went all out for a stoppage Walsh’s corner threw the towel in, it being seemingly all over. However, Walsh objected strongly to his corner interfering, and following a few moments of wrangling the fight continued until a straight left to the solar plexus dropped him in a heap to be counted out.
