1906-12-07 (122lbs) Abe Attell w co 8 (20) Jimmy Walsh, Naud Junction Pavilion, Los Angeles, California, USA. Referee: Tommy Burns. Billed for the American (world) 122lbs title, Attell started strongly and had Walsh all but out before the bell rang to end the first round. Having taken all manner of blows to the head, Walsh was soon bleeding freely and although he kept going without success it was not for the want of trying. When landing heavily in the eighth, Attell went all out for a stoppage and after Walsh’s corner threw the towel in it seemed to be all over. However, Walsh objected strongly to his corner interferring and following a few moments of wrangling the fight continued before a straight left to the solar plexus dropped him in a heap to be counted out.
