1907-01-08 (145lbs) Honey Mellody w pts 15 Terry Martin, City Hall, Augusta, Maine, USA. Referee: Spin Mahaney. With championship billing given at 145lbs the Boston Post stated that although the ‘popular’ title was not strictly involved, the contest was still an important one. Unfortunately for the fans it was more of a hugging match than a fight, as both men came together in virtually every round, but when they did break free it was fast and furious. Mellody’s idea was to get close and work rights and lefts up and down, while Martin proved himself to be a shifty boxer who could hold his own, as he did in the fifth and sixth when letting his punches go. There were no knockdowns reported.
