1907-02-11 (144lbs) [[Curley Watson]] w pts 20 [[Andrew Jeptha]], Wonderland, Mile End, London, England. Referee: Edward Humphreys. Reported as being for the English 144lbs title despite Jeptha (142½) coming from South Africa and it being contested over two-minute rounds, Watson (141) quickly got down to business and had little difficulty getting through his adversary’s guard with the straight left. Round after round Watson scored well and although Jeptha was groggy at times he stuck to his task and put the sailor down in the 11th with a drive to the ribs. It was now clear to Jeptha that to win a fight he was losing by a substantial margin of points his best chance lay in working the body, but as much as he tried he was unable to repeat the trick. The last five rounds were tough for the tiring Watson, who claimed the title at the weight after his victory.
