1907-05-21 (142lbs) Jimmy Gardner w pts 10 Harry Lewis, The Coliseum, Denver, Colorado, USA. Made at 142lbs, Gardner won virtually every round, forcing Lewis on to the back foot and defending himself well against the right hand. Unable to get his punches off, due to Gardner staying too close to him, Lewis was forced to take continuous lefts and rights to the body that had a bad effect on him. Following his victory, Gardner, who also showed good defensive skills, claimed the title at that weight.
