1907-06-03 (122lbs) Jim Driscoll w co 17 (20) Joe Bowker, NSC, Covent Garden, London, England. Referee: J. H. Douglas. Billed for the English 122lbs title, £200-a-side, and a £100 purse, the contest produced some brilliant boxing by two of the best technicians in the sport. Driscoll (120) had a reach advantage over Bowker (121½), but with the Salford man often outmanoeuvring his rival it was difficult to call going into the 17th round. In the previous session after Driscoll had moved his attack to the body it appeared to have had a weakening effect on Bowker, who was dropped twice from right crosses to the jaw before a left hook brought him down again, this time to be counted out.
This was the last English title fight at 122lbs, and following the 11th February 1909 directive from the NSC all featherweight championship bouts in Britain in future would be at 126lbs.
