1907-10-05 (100lbs) Tommy Brown w rtd 11 (15) Jim Freeman, Lynn Street Circus, West Hartlepool, England. Billed for the English 100lbs title, this was the fifth meeting between the pair, Brown having won three of them with the other two going to Freeman. Newcastle’s Freeman should not be confused with his namesake who won the ABA title in 1900. Brown made the better start of the pair, scoring well with the left, but in the fourth he was badly hurt by a right to the jaw that left him groggy up to the bell. However, Brown, who had shaken off the effects of the blow by the start of the fifth, went on to take the next five sessions before Freeman was retired at the end of the 11th.
