1907-10-14 (112lbs) Ike Bradley w co 19 (20) Jim Southway, Welsh National AC, Merthyr Tydfil, Wales. Billed for the English 112lbs title, Bradley (110) was a 2-1 on favourite and despite slipping down in the second round he quickly came back to drop Southway (110) with a left hook in the next session. Subsequently, Bradley was on top and after having Southway down with body punches in the 17th the referee rescued the latter two rounds later when he was unable to defend himself properly.
Bearing in mind that Bradley had failed to beat Digger Stanley on all three occasions they had met, and the latter was recognised as the best man at the weight in England, it was hardly surprising that outside of Liverpool (Bradley’s hometown) there was hardly any support for the winner’s claim.
