1907-10-21 (142lbs) [[Young Joseph]] w pts 20 [[Jack Goldswain]], Wonderland, Mile End, London, England. Referee: Eugene Corri. Made at 142lbs, after Joseph (142) was cautioned for going low in the opener for several rounds the fight never really took off as both men hugged and worked away untidily. But after Goldswain (141½) was dropped in the fifth the next few sessions saw Joseph beginning to drive the Bermondsey man’s head back with left hands and in the tenth his rival was badly dazed following heavy blows to head and body. Although Goldswain made several desperate efforts to turn the fight round he was unable to do so and was well beaten at the final bell.
