1908-01-31 (122lbs) [[Abe Attell]] w rtd 13 (20) [[Frankie Neil]], Dreamland Arena, San Francisco, California, USA. Referee: Jack Welch. Billed for the world 122lbs title, with both men making the weight at the ringside weigh-in, it was a mismatch from the start as Attell did very much as he pleased before dropping the game Neil heavily in the 12th round. Although Neil was soon back in the fray the damage had been done and on receiving a further shellacking in the 13th his corner threw the towel in, despite the fighter and his father wishing for him to carry on.
