26 June (116/118lbs) Jimmy Walsh w rtd 11 (15) Jimmy Carroll, Dreamland Rink, San Francisco, California, USA. Made at 116lbs, Walsh, who put his title claim at risk in this one, was far superior to Carroll and it soon became clear that the latter had little chance of winning. When Carroll proved he could take a punch and was game to the core, the Bostonian merely bided his time, but after Walsh handed out a terrible shellacking in the tenth round it was clear that Carroll was through and his seconds wisely threw the towel in during the 11th.
