1908-08-24 Tommy Burns w co 13 (20) Bill Squires, The Stadium, Sydney, Australia - WORLD. Referee: Harry Nathan. A return match between the pair, only this time in Australia, Squires (184) gave the champion all the trouble he could handle in many of the rounds and had his man groggy on at least two occasions. As the fight progressed it became difficult to call, but having hurt Squires in the 12th Burns (181) opened up in the 13th and soon put the Australian down for ‘nine’. Back on his feet, Squires was extremely groggy and after taking another count a right hand to the jaw put him down and out.
