1908-09-07 (104lbs) Curley Osborne drew 20 Joe Percival, Royal Engineers Drill Hall, Leeds, England. Referee: Tom Gamble. Billed for the English 104lbs title, Percival had earlier, on 23 March, been accorded a 15-round points win over the Londoner in Leeds, a result that was refuted by Osborne who claimed never to have been in the town prior to 7 September. Regardless of that, the Leeds Mercury reported this one to be a fine contest from start to finish and although Percival took a decided lead in the earlier stages Osborne was always game and ready for his man, making up a lot of ground between the eighth and tenth. Both fighters went for the knockout in the latter rounds, but to no avail.
