1909-02-22 (116lbs) Monte Attell w pts 20 Jimmy Reagan, Mission Street Arena, Colma, San Francisco, California, USA. Referee: Tiv Krelling. Made at 116lbs, both men were defending their claims at the weight. Although he outboxed the sturdy Reagan for much of the time, after Attell took four counts his chances of survival at times seemed slim, especially at the end of the sixth when he was out cold at the gong. In the eighth it was Reagan’s turn to go down, and he would have been counted out had it not been for a mix-up between the referee and the timekeeper. Down again later in the round, it was only Reagan’s ability to soak up punishment that got him through to the final bell.
